RBWM Flood Update

Published: 23 February 2024

Flood alerts remain in place for the:

  • Colne Brook at Iver and Colnbrook
  • Lower River Loddon
  • River Thames from Datchet to Shepperton Green
  • River Thames from Hurley to Cookham
  • Chertsey Bourne

You can also review them on the EA website: Check for flooding in Windsor And Maidenhead - GOV.UK (check-for-flooding.service.gov.uk)  When you click on this link you can get maps and at the side in the key area if you click on the rainfall symbol you can check the levels of rainfall in the last hour, 6 hours or 24hours. As an example in in the last 24hrs at Ham Island there have been 15.1mm whereas in Earley in Wokingham BC they have received 12mm.

As a result of the levels across the Thames catchment area we are closely monitoring the impact of the rain and remain ready to respond, including over the upcoming weekend, should this become necessary.

For the latest weather updates, visit the Met Office website.

Please be assured that the council continues to monitor the situation carefully with the Environment Agency and local partners.

In so doing we are getting our reporting lines in place for information from the ground to come into the Council so it can be considered along with information coming from the Environment Agency to inform any potential response. We therefore are seeking support from you as flood wardens to help with the intelligence picture of flood levels, ideally from a consistent location(s) to show how flood waters are rising (or not hopefully) which can be sent into us with any commentary, including details of the date and time of the data.  We suspect you already have locations where you note the levels and get an indication of the severity of the situation emerging but if not it would be helpful if you could establish such a location so that photos can be taken and sent in so we can see a consistent view on the changes of flood levels over time.

Please can you pass any information and photos you gather on the ground to both flooding.enquiries@rbwm.gov.uk and Emergency.Planning@RBWM.gov.uk . These addresses will be monitored, periodically during the day, including over the weekend, to ensure the information is picked up to inform decision making.
