Met Office update 23/9/24:
There has been a change to the warnings due to the heavy rain. Many places have seen well over 50 mm in the last 24 hours.
The focus of the heaviest rain is now further south than expected yesterday. An Amber warning which was further north yesterday, just encroaching into Oxfordshire, is now further south and covers much of the Thames Valley and into the far northwest of Hampshire.
The Amber Rain Warning (Medium Likelihood of Medium Impacts) valid until 2100 this evening, covers the potential impacts which could include disruption to transport and difficult driving conditions, flooding of homes and businesses, isolated power outages with the risk of some communities being cut off.
The rain is expected to clear to the east later this evening and overnight.
Tuesday: Any rain will continue to clear eastwards through the morning to leave a mostly fine and dry day.
Wednesday – Thursday: A return to more unsettled and cooler conditions with further areas of rain and possibly some strong winds spreading in from the Atlantic, again brining the potential for further weather warnings.
