National Offer Day

Starting school is an important milestone - and this year brings great news! On National Offer Day this week, 87.7% of children in the Royal Borough have received their first choice school – the highest proportion in five years!

Additionally, 97.3% of children have been allocated a place at one of their top three schools – and every child has been provided with a school place. Congratulations to everyone beginning their first, infant or primary school adventure.

Waste and recycling made easy

We offer lots of ways to help you clear out unwanted items, recycle more and reduce waste at home, from bulky household items to garden waste and everyday recycling.

If you’re getting rid of larger items, our large item collections service makes it easier to dispose of bulky household waste responsibly, with items separated for reuse or recycling wherever possible.

For garden waste, our green waste subscription service provides regular collections throughout the year, turning grass cuttings, hedge trimmings and plant waste into compost.

Give unwanted items a second life with TRAID

This spring, residents are invited to take part in TRAID's Closet Clear Out. By donating good-quality clothes through TRAID’s free home collection service, you can help turn unwanted items into real impact by funding projects that support garment workers, sustainable farming, and communities affected by clothing poverty in the UK and globally.

Their doorstep collection service is open to all households, including flats, and you can book a collection for a day that suits you. Alongside your textile donations, TRAID can also take small electrical items for recycling.

Discover what's on in the borough

Whether you’re looking to meet others, try something new, or give your time to a local cause, there are lots of ways to get involved across the borough.

Our Community Information Hub is a simple way to discover what’s happening near you. It brings together details of local events, activities, groups, clubs and charities all in one place. You can search by name, browse categories, filter by date, or explore listings on the map to find social groups, activities and community support in your area.

If you’re interested in volunteering, our volunteering page brings together useful links to help you find opportunities across the borough. Volunteering is a great way to build skills, meet new people and make a positive difference in your community, whether you can offer a little time now and then or make a more regular commitment.
